The Short Version
Takten is a local-first daily planner. Your sequences, tasks, and planning data are stored on your device and never sent to our servers. We do not have servers that store your data. We do not track you, serve ads, or sell your information.
Your Data Stays on Your Device
Takten stores all of your planning data -- sequences, tasks, notes, durations, completion history, and preferences -- locally on your device using on-device storage. This data does not leave your device, and we have no ability to access, read, or retrieve it.
If you delete the app, your locally stored data is permanently deleted along with it.
What We Do Not Collect
To be completely clear about what Takten does not do:
- No accounts. We do not require or offer user accounts, so we never collect names, emails, or passwords.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use analytics services, SDKs, or any form of behavioral tracking.
- No advertising. We do not display ads or share data with advertising networks.
- No cloud sync. Your data is not uploaded to any cloud service. There are no Takten servers storing your information.
- No location data. We do not request or use your location.
- No contacts or calendar access. We do not access your contacts, calendar, or any other data on your device beyond what Takten itself creates and manages.
- No selling of data. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties. Period.
Information We May Receive
While Takten itself does not collect personal information, certain information may be collected by the platforms through which you download and use the app:
App Store and Google Play
When you download Takten from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, Apple or Google may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies. This may include your Apple ID or Google account information, download history, and basic device information. This data collection is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy, not by Takten.
Crash Reports
If you have opted into sharing crash data with Apple or Google at the operating system level, anonymized crash reports from Takten may be made available to us through Apple's App Store Connect or Google Play Console. These reports contain technical diagnostic information (such as device model, OS version, and stack traces) and do not include your planning data or any personally identifiable information. You can disable crash reporting in your device's settings at any time.
Data Stored on Your Device
For transparency, here is what Takten stores locally on your device:
- Sequences: Titles, anchor types (start time, end time, or duration), and creation/modification timestamps.
- Tasks: Titles, optional notes, planned durations, and ordering within sequences.
- Daily plans: Which sequences are scheduled for today, their status (later, live, done), and display order.
- Run data: When you execute a sequence, task completion states, actual durations, and timer data.
- History: Summaries of your completed daily plans, retained for up to 7 days, then automatically discarded.
All of this data is stored in your device's local storage. None of it is transmitted over the network.
Children's Privacy
Takten does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. We do not require account creation or collect any identifying data. While the app is designed for general audiences, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations by virtue of not collecting personal information from any users.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has somehow provided personal information to us (for example, via a support email), please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Third-Party Services
Takten does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services. The app operates entirely on your device with no network requests for its core functionality.
The only external services involved in the Takten experience are:
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store -- for downloading and updating the app
- Apple / Google operating systems -- for device-level services like crash reporting (if you have opted in)
These services are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
Data Security
Because your data never leaves your device, the security of your Takten data is tied to the security of your device itself. We recommend:
- Keeping your device's operating system up to date
- Using a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
- Being cautious about which apps you install
Takten does not implement its own encryption layer beyond what the operating system provides for app-local storage.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store your personal data on any servers, traditional data rights requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) do not apply to Takten in the usual sense. Your data is already entirely under your control on your device.
- To access your data: It is on your device, within the app.
- To delete your data: Delete the app, or clear the app's data from your device settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
- To port your data: Your data is not stored on our servers, so there is nothing for us to export.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants specific privacy rights under GDPR or similar legislation, you may contact us with any questions or concerns. However, because we do not process personal data on our servers, most rights under these regulations are automatically satisfied by our local-only architecture.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Because Takten does not collect, sell, or share personal information, these rights are inherently satisfied. We do not sell personal information and have never sold personal information.
Do Not Track
Takten does not track you in any way. We honor Do Not Track signals by default -- not because we detect them, but because we simply do not track.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or the app store listing.
Your continued use of Takten after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
